When things get sticky (i.e. there are a lot of emotionally charged issues) in a retrospective this exercise is a useful way to remove the emotion from the participants and get them focused on what they want to do about it.

  1. What went well for you  what improvement can you make (<1 minute per person) it is important that everyone in the retrospective speaks
  2. Feel, Think, Want 20 Min.
    1. On a sticky write down what you feel happened during this sprint, what you think the reason was and what you want to happen next. You can have multiple thoughts and wants for each feeling.

Feel:
I feel like I worked too many hours during this sprint!

Think:
I think I worked too hard because I under-estimated task XYZ
I think I worked too hard because the requirement was ambiguous

Want:
I want our test cases to be executable

Present Cards/De-dupe 20 Min

  1. Prioritize – Sticker vote  (you can only place 1 sticker on your own)5 min
  2. Make actionable - Discuss the highest priority “wants” to determine what actions need to be taken (60 min)
  3. Close with summary of action items and owners. 10min
